The franchise was created from a dormant franchise. The team was comprised entirely of recruited soldiers of the 228th battalion from North Bay, recruited out of Nipissing and Sudbury. After only twelve games, they dropped out of the league as the battalion was ordered overseas.
Controversy arose when players revealed that they were paid solely to play hockey.
